Pet Retail Business Development Manager

Duggan Veterinary Group  is seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Pet Retail Business Development Manager to lead the growth of our companion animal business within the pet retail sector in Ireland and the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently working within the pet speciality, companion animal or animal health sector who is looking to move beyond traditional account management and take ownership of a growing category, with greater autonomy, commercial responsibility and strategic influence.

You will have responsibility for driving category performance, developing key partnerships in both traditional pet retail outlets and other sectors where pet products are sold, launching innovative products, expanding routes to market and helping shape the future direction of our pet business.

A particularly important aspect of the role will be the continued development and expansion of Gosbi, one of Europe’s leading premium pet nutrition brands. The successful candidate will play a central role in building Gosbi’s presence across specialist pet retail, veterinary, online and other distributor channels, making a strong understanding of pet nutrition and premium pet food positioning a significant advantage.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and develop strategic pet retail accounts across Ireland and the UK,
  • Lead the commercial development of the Gosbi pet nutrition range and other key companion animal brands.
  • Expand sales through pet retail, veterinary, online and wholesale channels.
  • Develop category growth plans and identify new market opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, buying groups and key industry partners.
  • Represent Duggan Veterinary at major industry events and exhibitions.
  • Take ownership of the commercial performance of a growing pet portfolio.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience within the pet, companion animal or animal health sector.
  • Strong commercial, account management and business development skills.
  • A passion for building brands, growing categories and developing customer relationships.
  • Ambition to take on greater responsibility and play a key role in driving business growth.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Ireland and the UK.
  • An understanding of pet nutrition will be an advantage and seen as important to the functioning of the role.

Why Join Duggan Veterinary Group?

This role offers the opportunity to move from managing accounts to helping lead a business category. You’ll work closely with senior management, have significant autonomy in decision-making and gain exposure to the strategic aspects of category development, supplier management and market expansion.

For the right candidate, this position provides a genuine pathway towards broader commercial leadership responsibilities within a growing and dynamic animal health business.
