1. AVSPNI identifies and delivers continuing education events on topics of direct relevance to NI veterinary surgeons. Events may facilitate revision of existing knowledge, further develop existing knowledge, outline new approaches to disease and welfare issues, demonstrate new skills and techniques (medical/surgical) or address new and emerging disease threats. Educational event for farm vets will be tailored to farming methods used within the NI agricultural sector.
2. AVSPNI engages with farming, governmental, charitable and other bodies, inputting veterinary advice where it may be beneficial to animal health and welfare. It responds to consultations, canvasses opinions from its members and experts from elsewhere to ensure its input reflects current thinking and evidence-based science. AVSPNI shares with its membership the knowledge gleaned through its engagement with other bodies so that they in turn can cascade knowledge out to their client base (the general pet and farm animal owning public).
3. AVSPNI delivers educational events and shares current knowledge on how to spot signs of stress, how to raise the topic with colleagues or clients under pressure and methods of combatting stress and anxiety. It promotes good physical and mental health amongst the veterinary profession via social media and encourages vets to share hints and tips more widely.
